Finding the right educational establishment for your child is a enormously important decision when moving to a new area, whether that be early years, primary or secondary education. Whether you’re looking for a nursery, primary or secondary school, Derry City and Strabane has some excellent schools including state-run and same sex or mixed-sex, as well as faith schools. With 70 primary schools, 14 post primary schools, 8 nursery schools and 24 pre-schools, class sizes are smaller than the UK Average.
Derry and Strabane is well served by educational establishments that are well represented within national rankings, with most schools generally performing to a very high standard.
The Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) is a ‘unitary’ inspectorate and part of the Department of Education (DE), providing independent inspection services and policy advice for DE. The ETI also provides independent inspection services and policy advice for a number of other government departments including the Department for the Economy and the Department for Communities. In addition, inspection services are also provided for the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), the Criminal Justice Inspection (CJI) and the Home Office.
